{"id":23451,"date":"1999-06-23T20:16:14","date_gmt":"1999-06-24T01:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/1999\/06\/23\/schmidgall-announces-transfer-to-umd\/"},"modified":"2010-08-17T19:54:05","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T00:54:05","slug":"schmidgall-announces-transfer-to-umd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/1999\/06\/23\/schmidgall-announces-transfer-to-umd\/","title":{"rendered":"Schmidgall Announces Transfer to UMD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jenny Schmidgall, a former U.S. Olympian, has signed a letter of intent to play for coach Shannon Miller and her Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs this fall.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Duluth <i>News Tribune<\/i>, Schmidgall said, &#8220;Her hockey philosophy and mine were the same, and she made me an offer I couldn&#8217;t refuse. She&#8217;s looking for the best players so that she can have the best team possible right off the bat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Schmidgall is leaving the Minnesota program after her freshman season in which she lead the team in scoring with 33-38-71. Her team finished with a record of 28-4-3 and finished third in the American Women&#8217;s College Hockey Alliance Division I tournament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just didn&#8217;t fit into Minnesota&#8217;s program. It wasn&#8217;t for me,&#8221; said Schmidgall.<\/p>\n<p>At Duluth, Schmidgall joins 19 previously signed players, including Swedish Olympic winger Maria Rooth.<\/p>\n<p>The former Gopher will return to Minnesota on Dec. 3-4, when Schmidgall&#8217;s Bulldogs face off against the Gophers, and will meet them again Feb. 11-12, 2000, on her new home ice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jenny Schmidgall, a former U.S. Olympian, has signed a letter of intent to play for coach Shannon Miller and her Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs this fall.
