{"id":25784,"date":"2003-05-11T15:40:11","date_gmt":"2003-05-11T20:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2003\/05\/11\/witt-named-permanent-coach-at-yale\/"},"modified":"2010-08-17T19:55:28","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T00:55:28","slug":"witt-named-permanent-coach-at-yale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2003\/05\/11\/witt-named-permanent-coach-at-yale\/","title":{"rendered":"Witt Named Permanent Coach at Yale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hilary Witt, who served as interim head coach last winter and led Yale to its second straight ECAC playoff appearance, has been named permanent head coach of the Yale women&#8217;s hockey team.<\/p>\n<p>Witt led the Bulldogs to a 9-20-2 record, was the 2002-03 Coach of the Year in the ECAC and a finalist for the American Hockey Coaches Association award.<\/p>\n<p>Witt served as an assistant coach during the 2001-02 season. She became interim coach last season when John Marchetti was reassigned within the Yale athletic department after a five-year record of 30-104-11.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am honored to be at Yale where there is such great tradition and history and I am thrilled with the opportunity to guide this program to the very highest levels of women&#8217;s hockey,&#8221; Witt said.<\/p>\n<p>Witt, a former U.S. National Team member, is a graduate of Northeastern, where she is the all-time leading scorer with 113 goals and 207 points. Her senior year she led the team in goals (30), assists (24) and points (54), was ranked among the top 10 scorers in the ECAC in all offensive categories and was a finalist for the 2000 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented annually to the nation&#8217;s top player.
