After losing two of his top four scorers from last season, he led Middlebury to a 24-4 record this season and its first NCAA and third national championship.<\/p>\n<div class=\"boxleft\" style=\"width: 102px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"boxjpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/images\/headshots\/midd_mandigo.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"135\" alt=\"mandigo\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"namecaption\">mandigo<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mandigo, who also received this honor in 2001, just completed his 16th year at Middlebury where he has compiled a record of 278-81-10. Those numbers make him the winningest coach in the history of NCAA Division III women&#8217;s ice hockey.<\/p>\n<p>After leading his team to its first ECAC Alliance Championship in 1996, Mandigo was named the ECAC Women&#8217;s Hockey Alliance Coach of the Year. Since then, he has led the team to five more ECAC titles, three national titles and a NESCAC Championship.<\/p>\n<p>A 1983 graduate of Wesleyan, Mandigo began his coaching career at his alma mater as the assistant men&#8217;s hockey coach, serving for two years after his graduation. Mandigo moved on to The Hill School, where he was the boys&#8217; head hockey coach from 1985 to 1987. After one year at Burrillville High School in Rhode Island, he moved to Middlebury in the fall of 1988 as the head women&#8217;s hockey coach and as an assistant coach in both football and baseball.
