According to Atlantic Hockey commissioner Bob DeGregorio, the league’s athletic directors will have a conference call Friday morning.

DeGregorio could not confirm the agenda, but the question of RIT’s potential membership is a possible topic of discussion after DeGregorio and Canisius AD Tim Dillon made an official visit to the school last weekend.

“They’re great people,” said DeGregorio of RIT. “They have great facilities and they’re enthusiastic. I think they’re a great fit.

During the visit, DeGregorio met with representatives of Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, which may be interested in hosting the AHA’s conference tournament.

“We’d like to find a home for our tournament similar to Hockey East and what they have,” said DeGregorio, himself a former Hockey East commissioner.

Also contending for hosting rights could be the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. DeGregorio said the venue may bid for the next cycle of NCAA regionals, in which case Sacred Heart would host. The first available regional would be in 2008.

An announcement regarding RIT could be made as early as next week. League officials will visit Air Force, another possible expansion candidate, in January.
