The Badgers, who dropped two decisions to Denver over the weekend, slipped to No. 2 but retained the votes of 11 poll voters. UW was followed by Miami, which stayed in third after sweeping Western Michigan thanks to a pair of last-minute goals on Saturday. The RedHawks earned the remaining two first-place votes.

Minnesota, which beat Colorado College twice, remained No. 4, while Cornell, which beat the North Country tandem of St. Lawrence and Clarkson, was fifth.

No. 6 Michigan also held its ground despite a home-and-home split with Bowling Green, and was trailed by seventh-ranked North Dakota, which moved up two places with a sweep of Minnesota State.

Vermont fell three spots to No. 8 in the wake of its lost weekend against the Eagles, while CC likewise slipped two places to ninth. Rounding out the top 10 was New Hampshire, which split a home-and-home against Massachusetts.

The Wildcats started a run of four straight Hockey East teams in the poll. Providence was No. 11, followed by Maine and Boston University to give HEA a total of six teams in the top 20, the most of any conference.

Tied at No. 14 were St. Lawrence, which slipped four spots after losing to Cornell and then Colgate, and the week’s biggest gainer, Denver, which was up from the 19th position in last week’s rankings after sweeping the Badgers.

Michigan State came in at No. 16 this week, followed by Harvard, Colgate, Lake Superior — which fell five positions after taking only one point at Ferris State — and then Northern Michigan at No. 20.
