The 2009 RBK Division III Women’s Ice Hockey All American’s were announced today by the American Hockey Coaches Association. The Eastern region’s first team consisted of the 2009 Laura Hurd award winner Kayla Coady (Elmira), along with 2008 Hurd Award winner Danielle Blanchard (Plattsburgh). Elmira goaltender Allison Cubberley was chosen as the top netminder in the East and teammate Jamie Kivi was selected as a defenseman. Plattsburgh forward Stephanie Moberg received her first All American award and Middlebury defenseman Randi Dumont rounded out the team.<\/p>\n
The Western Region’s All American’s consisted of one familiar name and five first time winners. Wis. Stevens Point forward Nicole Grossman garnered her second consecutive All American selection. She was joined by fellow Pointer Rachael Graves on the blue line. MIAC teams swept the rest of the spots as Bethel netminder Beth Spurrier was elected top goalie in the West. Gustavus Adolphus’s forward Melissa Mackley and defenseman Kirstin Peterson were named to the team for leading their squad to the best record in the West. St. Thomas’ Jackie Carroll was named a top forward as well.<\/p>\n
Amherst goalie Krystyn Elek earned her third consecutive Second Team All American award. Elek, a junior has led the Lady Jeffs to their second NCAA Semi-final in three years. RIT standout forward Sarah Dagg, and defenseman Erica Owczarczak made the Second Team, along with Norwich’s Amanda Wilks, Manhattanville’s Holly Nonis, and Hamilton’s Stephanie Miguel.<\/p>\n
The RBK All-American Teams are sponsored by RBK Hockey and are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.<\/p>\n
