Yale’s Mandi Schwartz received the long-awaited stem cell transplant Wednesday in a 32-minute procedure at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s inpatient transplant unit at the University of Washington Medical Center.<\/p>\n
Yale’s athletic department confirmed the procedure in a post on a site dedicated to Schwartz’s battle with acute myeloid lymphoma<\/a>.<\/p>\n The next step is engraftment, when the transplanted stem cells start to grow in her bone marrow and manufacture new blood cells and immune cells, according to the post.<\/p>\n
