{"id":37291,"date":"2011-06-10T08:10:28","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T13:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=37291"},"modified":"2011-06-10T08:10:28","modified_gmt":"2011-06-10T13:10:28","slug":"michigan-names-former-player-wiseman-new-assistant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2011\/06\/10\/michigan-names-former-player-wiseman-new-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Michigan names former player Wiseman new assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan has named former player Brian Wiseman the team&#8217;s new assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman, a four-year letter winner (1991-94) and Hobey Baker finalist with the Wolverines, was an assistant coach in 2010-11 for the Calder Cup finalist Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.<\/p>\n<p>He previously served as an assistant coach at Princeton during the 2003-04 season and was the video coach for the Dallas Stars in 2002-03. At Michigan, Wiseman was the team&#8217;s administrative assistant from 2000-02.<\/p>\n<p>In 166 career games in Ann Arbor, Wiseman racked up 348 points, which ranks third all-time for the program. A 12th-round selection of the New York Rangers in the 1991 NHL draft, Wiseman appeared in three NHL games, all with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1996-97. In 1998-99, he was the International Hockey League&#8217;s leading scorer and most valuable player while leading the Aeros to the Turner Cup. He also captained the Aeros in 1999-2000.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman replaces Mel Pearson at Michigan, who left for the head coach job at Michigan Tech.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan has named former player Brian Wiseman the team&#8217;s new assistant coach.
