Wisconsin-Superior freshmen Dani Schultz has been voted Player of the Year in the NCHA women’s conference, while UW-Superior coach Dan Laughlin earned Coach of the Year honors.

“As a freshman, to come in and be the hardest worker is remarkable,” said Laughlin in a news release. “We wanted her to come in and score goals and she has given us a huge boost in that department. She’s not the flashiest player, but she has a nose for the net that is just very rare for a freshman.”

Schultz put up 28 points (21 goals) in her 25 regular-season games.

Laughlin, who was also named the conference’s top coach in 2004, 2006 and 2008, guided the Yellowjackets to a 15-7-3 regular-season record.
