{"id":43021,"date":"2012-03-16T11:21:09","date_gmt":"2012-03-16T16:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=43021"},"modified":"2012-03-16T11:21:09","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T16:21:09","slug":"amherst-goalie-larose-wins-sid-watson-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2012\/03\/16\/amherst-goalie-larose-wins-sid-watson-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Amherst goalie LaRose wins Sid Watson Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amherst senior goaltender Jonathan LaRose has been chosen by the nation&#8217;s coaches as the 2012 winner of the Sid Watson Award, symbolic of the nation&#8217;s best Division III men&#8217;s hockey player. <\/p>\n<p>The 5-foot-9, 170-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, has helped Amherst to a 24-3-1 record and a NESCAC championship, as well as a berth in this weekend&#8217;s NCAA Division III championships in Lake Placid, N.Y. <\/p>\n<p>LaRose has compiled a 1.53 goals against average in 21 games this season and has a career GAA of 1.67 in 50 games. Selected as the NESCAC player of the year, LaRose has a save percentage of .943 for both this season and his career.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jonathan has an outstanding work ethic and is as committed as any player we have,&#8221; Amherst coach Jack Arena said in a statement. &#8220;He loves the game and approaches it and everything around it the right way.
