Twelve hockey teams — seven from the men’s side and five on the women’s side — have perfect scores in the NCAA’s latest Academic Progress Rates.

The scores, which are based on eligibility and retention of scholarship players, include data from the 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years.

Brown had a perfect 1,000 score for both its men’s and women’s hockey teams. The other men’s teams at 1,000: Boston University, Dartmouth, New Hampshire, Notre Dame, Princeton and St. Lawrence.

Boston College, Colgate, Northeastern and Sacred Heart joined Brown with a perfect APR in women’s hockey.

The 58 men’s teams averaged 982, second only to gymnastics among NCAA men’s sports. The women’s average of 987 was tied for third behind field hockey and gymnastics.

The NCAA penalizes schools that do not meet academic performance standards. No men’s or women’s hockey team has ever been disciplined, according to an NCAA database.
