{"id":44939,"date":"2012-08-06T14:47:38","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T19:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=44939"},"modified":"2012-08-06T14:47:38","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T19:47:38","slug":"former-womens-goalie-mclaughlin-returns-to-robert-morris-as-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2012\/08\/06\/former-womens-goalie-mclaughlin-returns-to-robert-morris-as-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Former women&#8217;s goalie McLaughlin returns to Robert Morris as assistant coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Robert Morris women&#8217;s team has named former Colonials goaltender Brianne McLaughlin as a new assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin served as a volunteer assistant with RMU last season. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to be back,&#8221; McLaughlin said in a statement. &#8220;I&#8217;ve always wanted to venture into coaching and I think this is the perfect opportunity. I went to RMU, played here and already did some coaching here. I have a huge passion for the school already, so being a part of something I love so much is a pretty special thing. I had a blast last season as the volunteer [coach], so I&#8217;m excited to see what this year brings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In her role last season, McLaughlin helped with day-to-day operations, individual player development, video analysis, community service involvement and alumni events. In her new role, McLaughlin will maintain some of these duties and will also participate in recruiting and being more involved with on-ice instruction.<\/p>\n<p>In 120 career games for Robert Morris, McLaughlin stopped an NCAA-record 3,809 shots, was a four-time All-CHA award winner and led RMU to one of the biggest wins in school history on Oct. 3, 2008 when she made a single-game school record 63 saves to lead the Colonials to a road upset of then-No. 3 Minnesota. <\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin played one game during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and earned a silver medal. She won gold at the 2011 IIHF World Women&#8217;s Championship and added a silver medal in 2012. <\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin graduated from Robert Morris in 2011 with a degree in nursing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Robert Morris women&#8217;s team has named former Colonials goaltender Brianne McLaughlin as a new assistant coach.
