{"id":45971,"date":"2012-10-22T22:08:27","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T03:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=45971"},"modified":"2012-10-22T22:08:27","modified_gmt":"2012-10-23T03:08:27","slug":"nhl-veteran-mair-named-director-of-player-development-at-canisius","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2012\/10\/22\/nhl-veteran-mair-named-director-of-player-development-at-canisius\/","title":{"rendered":"NHL veteran Mair named director of player development at Canisius"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Mair has joined the Canisius staff as director of player development.<\/p>\n<p>Mair spent the majority of his NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres and played 32 games last year with the AHL&#8217;s Springfield Falcons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m very thankful for the opportunity that has been provided by Canisius College, [head coach] Dave Smith and the entire coaching staff where I&#8217;ll be able to learn the many aspects involved in coaching and the day-to-day operations of running a program,&#8221; Mair said in a statement. &#8220;I look forward to helping Canisius College and its players achieve their goals and aid in their future success. It is great to be involved and give back to the Buffalo hockey community that has given me so much in my career.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mair also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils over his 12-year pro career.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is great for our program to have a former NHL player with over 850 professional games join our staff,&#8221; Smith added. &#8220;Adam&#8217;s passion for the game and his interest in helping our program reach the next level is evident on a daily basis. He is a tremendous asset to Canisius College hockey.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Working with Adam will benefit all of the coaches, as well as Adam, and this will make a win-win situation for everybody involved. Our relationship with the Buffalo Sabres continues to grow and it&#8217;s great that we can connect with a former Sabre who chooses to reside in the greater Buffalo area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A native of Hamilton, Ont., Mair captained the Canadian World Junior team in 1999, winning a gold medal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Mair has joined the Canisius staff as director of player development.
