Five North Dakota players – captains Andrew MacWilliam, Danny Kristo, Carter Rowney and Corban Knight and senior Joe Gleason – were charged in Grand Forks District Court Monday with “unlawful delivery to certain persons” for providing alcohol at a team party last September, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a report Tuesday in the Grand Forks Herald<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

MacWilliam, Kristo, Rowney and Knight were suspended for the first game of the season<\/a> for the party. Three other players were suspended for the incident, but were not charged.<\/p>\n

The five players charged have a pretrial conference scheduled for March 7.<\/p>\n

“When we announced our disciplinary measures in September, we did so acknowledging that those measures would not preclude possible actions taken by the local and\/or state authorities,” UND athletic director Brian Faison said in the story. “We are aware of the ongoing legal process and will allow that process to play out.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
