Boston College coach Jerry York, after missing the remainder of the team’s Hockey East quarterfinal series against Vermont with a detached retina, underwent successful scleral buckling surgery Monday at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston to repair the retina in his right eye and is resting comfortably at home, the school announced Monday. <\/p>\n
York’s status is day-to-day..<\/p>\n
It’s the second time in just over two months that York has suffered the injury, each time in his right eye.<\/p>\n
York underwent surgery in early January for the same issue and missed a number of games at that time. He recovered from that injury and was symptom-free for two months, according to a BC source. On Saturday morning, after the team meeting, York experienced gray vision in the eye and was evaluated.<\/p>\n
Associate head coach Mike Cavanaugh and Greg Brown led the team to its quarterfinal win over Vermont and will continue in York’s absence. It is unclear if York will return behind the bench this season.<\/p>\n
