{"id":50247,"date":"2013-03-17T14:11:32","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T19:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=50247"},"modified":"2013-03-17T18:45:15","modified_gmt":"2013-03-17T23:45:15","slug":"alabama-huntsvilles-lysaght-injured-in-car-wreck-in-critical-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2013\/03\/17\/alabama-huntsvilles-lysaght-injured-in-car-wreck-in-critical-condition\/","title":{"rendered":"Alabama-Huntsville&#8217;s Lysaght injured in car wreck, condition improving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alabama-Huntsville sophomore forward Kyle Lysaght is in critical condition following a car accident Friday in his hometown of Marietta, Ga.<\/p>\n<p>Lysaght, 22, was airlifted by a Life Flight helicopter to the Atlanta Medical Center, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/eastcobb.patch.com\/articles\/serious-injury-in-east-cobb-crash#.UUYA0dLKsJo.gmail\"><em>East Cobb Patch<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the story, Lysaght was a front-seat passenger in a 2007 Lexus heading southbound on Johnson Ferry shortly before 5 p.m. and as the vehicle approached a busy intersection, it was struck by a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck turning left onto Woodlawn from northbound Johnson Ferry.<\/p>\n<p>The Lexus then collided with a utility pole in a traffic island.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Lexus and the driver of the Tacoma were taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report. A back-seat passenger in the Lexus declined medical treatment at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our thoughts and prayers are with Kyle,&#8221; Geof Morris wrote on <a href=\"http:\/\/uahhockey.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/16\/kyle-lysaght-critically-injured-in-automobile-crash\/\">UAHHockey.com<\/a>. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been in contact with a couple of his teammates and they have filled me in on some of his injuries. I would term this situation very worrisome. Out of respect for Kyle&#8217;s privacy, I believe that the best thing for all of us to do is show our concern for our him and not pass around rumors or facts about how he&#8217;s doing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We should just all focus on a full recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That recovery seems to be happening as, according to the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/sports\/index.ssf\/2013\/03\/uah_hockey_player_kyle_lysaght.html\">Huntsville Times<\/a><\/em>, Lysaght&#8217;s father told UAH coach Kurt Kleinendorst on Sunday that his son&#8217;s condition had &#8220;stabilized&#8221; and it &#8220;looks like the worst is behind him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[Lysaght] faces a long, long recovery,&#8221; Kleinendorst said to the Times. &#8220;He&#8217;s very lucky.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alabama-Huntsville sophomore forward Kyle Lysaght is in critical condition following a car accident Friday in his hometown of Marietta, Ga.
