Scott is a very talented and rugged player whose game and style will translate well at the pro level. We wish him continued success and look forward to seeing him in the NHL soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mayfield had four goals and 13 assists for 17 points and 114 penalty minutes with a plus-8 rating in 2012-13 with the Pioneers.<\/p>\n<p>The Islanders selected Mayfield in the second round (34th overall) of the 2011 NHL draft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Islanders announced Friday that they have signed Denver sophomore defenseman Scott Mayfield to a three-year entry-level deal.
