{"id":52024,"date":"2013-05-29T13:52:02","date_gmt":"2013-05-29T18:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=52024"},"modified":"2013-05-29T13:52:02","modified_gmt":"2013-05-29T18:52:02","slug":"boston-college-tabs-ayers-as-eagles-new-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2013\/05\/29\/boston-college-tabs-ayers-as-eagles-new-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston College tabs Ayers as Eagles&#8217; new assistant coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mike Ayers, former goaltending coach at USA Hockey&#8217;s National Team Development Program and goalie at New Hampshire from 2000-2004, has been named the new assistant coach at Boston College.<\/p>\n<p>Ayers replaces former associate head coach Mike Cavanaugh, who left BC for the head coaching job at Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>Ayers coached with the NTDP from 2011-13 and is also the coordinator of the Warren Strelow National Goaltending Mentor Program.<\/p>\n<p>Before his time with the NTDP, Ayers spent two seasons (2009-11) as the goaltending coach at St. Cloud State and in 2008-09, he served as goaltending coach for the Iowa Chops, which was then the American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks.<\/p>\n<p>At UNH, Ayers earned USA Hockey College Player of the Year honors in 2003 as well as AHCA All-America Second Team honors.
