{"id":52312,"date":"2013-07-15T09:20:44","date_gmt":"2013-07-15T14:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=52312"},"modified":"2013-07-17T15:13:31","modified_gmt":"2013-07-17T20:13:31","slug":"nebraska-omaha-fills-assistant-coach-void-with-castletons-todd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2013\/07\/15\/nebraska-omaha-fills-assistant-coach-void-with-castletons-todd\/","title":{"rendered":"Nebraska-Omaha fills assistant coach void with Castleton&#8217;s Todd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nebraska-Omaha has added Alex Todd, former head coach at Castleton, as the Mavericks&#8217; new assistant coach, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2013\/05\/20\/nebraska-omaha-assistant-johnson-decides-to-go-in-another-direction\/\">replacing Steve Johnson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Todd, a defenseman in his playing days, will coach the UNO blueliners.<\/p>\n<p>Todd took over at Castleton in 2005-06 and guided the Spartans to a 22-4-1 record in 2010-11, 19-7-2 the following year and 15-10-2 this past season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve gotten to know him the last couple of years,&#8221; UNO coach Dean Blais said to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omaha.com\/article\/20130712\/MAVS\/707129888\/1085\"><em>Omaha World-Herald<\/em><\/a>. &#8220;When guys have left, he&#8217;s shown interest and we&#8217;ve kept in touch. We&#8217;re pretty lucky to get a guy like him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Blais also admitted to the paper that he also offered the job to former Ohio State coach Mark Osiecki, whom Blais said agreed to take the job before accepting a position as an assistant coach for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, the top affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nebraska-Omaha has added Alex Todd, former head coach at Castleton, as the Mavericks&#8217; new assistant coach, replacing Steve Johnson.
