{"id":56884,"date":"2014-03-04T23:59:58","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T05:59:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=56884"},"modified":"2014-03-05T00:03:32","modified_gmt":"2014-03-05T06:03:32","slug":"minnesota-unseats-boston-college-as-top-team-in-d-i-mens-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2014\/03\/04\/minnesota-unseats-boston-college-as-top-team-in-d-i-mens-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota unseats Boston College as top team in D-I men&#8217;s poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By virtue of Minnesota&#8217;s two wins over Penn State and Boston College losing its first game in three months, there is a new team at the top of the USCHO.com Division I Men&#8217;s Poll &#8211; the Gophers.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota garnered 37 first-place votes and BC registered 12.<\/p>\n<p>Boston College lost to Notre Dame last Saturday and drops to No. 2 in the rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Union, which had the other first-place nod, beat Yale and Brown and stays No. 3, St. Cloud State split with North Dakota and moves up one to No. 4 and idle Wisconsin also jumps up one notch to sit fifth this week.<\/p>\n<p>Quinnipiac is up two to No. 8 after a win over St. Lawrence and tie against Clarkson, Ferris State was swept by Alaska and tumbles three notches to No. 7, Massachusetts-Lowell split with Vermont and falls one to No. 8, North Dakota is up one to No. 9 and with its sweep over Maine, Providence is back in the top 10 at No. 10, up from No. 12.<\/p>\n<p>At No. 11, Notre Dame rises three after its win over BC, Michigan tied and beat Ohio State to go from No. 13 to No. 12, Cornell lost to Dartmouth and defeated Harvard, but falls two places to No. 13, Northeastern was swept by Boston University and falls all the way from No. 9 to No. 14 and Vermont leaps up two spots to No. 15 in this week&#8217;s poll.<\/p>\n<p>Yale fell to Union and then beat Rensselaer and falls one to No. 16, Minnesota State took both from Lake Superior State to rise two to No. 17, Colgate falls a pair to sit 18th after losing to Harvard and beating Dartmouth, previously-unranked Minnesota-Duluth is back in the rankings at No. 19 after sweeping Miami and Maine drops two places to No. 20 this week.<\/p>\n<p><em>The USCHO.com Division I Men&#8217;s Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By virtue of Minnesota&#8217;s two wins over Penn State and Boston College losing its first game in three months, there is a new team at the top of the USCHO.com Division I Men&#8217;s Poll &#8211; the Gophers.
