{"id":65577,"date":"2015-09-15T06:59:42","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T11:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=65577"},"modified":"2015-09-15T06:59:54","modified_gmt":"2015-09-15T11:59:54","slug":"former-nahl-coach-michael-gershon-joins-robert-morris-staff-as-volunteer-assistant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2015\/09\/15\/former-nahl-coach-michael-gershon-joins-robert-morris-staff-as-volunteer-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NAHL coach Gershon joins Robert Morris staff as volunteer assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Robert Morris men&#8217;s team announced Monday that Michael Gershon has joined the staff as a volunteer assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>Gershon comes to the Colonials from the North American Hockey League&#8217;s Keystone Ice Miners, where he served as head coach, president and general manager during the 2014-15 season.<\/p>\n<p>Previously head coach and general manager of the NAHL&#8217;s Port Huron Fighting Falcons for two seasons, Gershon oversaw the relocation and rebranding of the team as the Keystone franchise in Connellsville, Pa. Prior to becoming head coach and general manager, Gershon served as the Falcons assistant coach for one season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very pleased that Michael has joined our staff,&#8221; said RMU head coach Derek Schooley in a news release. &#8220;To be able to add a coach with three years of junior hockey head coaching experience will not only add to our players&#8217; development, but add to our staff&#8217;s development.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mike has a good hockey mind and we are excited to have him work with the Colonial hockey program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As a three-year NAHL head coach, Gershon helped move 21 players into the college hockey ranks. <\/p>\n<p>A former NCAA Division III defenseman, Gershon graduated from Brockport with a degree in communications in 2009.
