{"id":65793,"date":"2015-09-30T22:29:26","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T03:29:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=65793"},"modified":"2015-09-30T22:31:44","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T03:31:44","slug":"rensselaer-freshman-brady-wiffen-ruled-partial-qualifier-will-miss-2015-16-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2015\/09\/30\/rensselaer-freshman-brady-wiffen-ruled-partial-qualifier-will-miss-2015-16-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Rensselaer freshman Wiffen ruled partial qualifier, will miss 2015-16 season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rensselaer athletic department announced Wednesday that freshman Brady Wiffen will sit out the 2015-16 season after being ruled a partial qualifier by the NCAA.<\/p>\n<p>Wiffen will be able to practice with the team, however.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we are disappointed for Brady, he has the opportunity to concentrate more fully on his academics while also being part of the team,&#8221; said RPI director of athletics Dr. Lee McElroy in a statement. &#8220;Based on the history of academic success of our student-athletes, we are confident Brady will be successful as a Rensselaer student and that includes in the classroom, on the ice and in the community.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We appreciate the NCAA&#8217;s efforts in doing their due diligence through the waiver process and the subsequent appeal process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wiffen played from 2012 to 2015 with the Trenton Golden Hawks of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and in 2014-15, compiled 53 goals and 92 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rensselaer athletic department announced Wednesday that freshman Brady Wiffen will sit out the 2015-16 season after being ruled a partial qualifier by the NCAA.
