He played the first half of the 2016-17 season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League.<\/p>\n<p>In 27 games with Youngstown, Murray collected 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists with a plus-nine rating.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At 6-foot-5, Brett is an imposing power forward,&#8221; Penn State coach Guy Gadowsky said in a statement. &#8220;His ability to both think the game and get up and down the ice will allow him to make a smooth transition to college hockey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Murray was selected in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Sabres after he tallied 46 points in 48 games with the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League and helped the team to the CCHL championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buffalo Sabres draft pick Brett Murray will join Penn State at the start of 2017.
