Merrimack will honor a veteran of the Global War on Terror, and father of a current Merrimack student, at Saturday night’s home game against Cornell.<\/p>\n
Navy Reserve Lt. Cmdr. Robert Dunne of Peabody, Mass., will be recognized in a brief ceremony at center ice Jan. 7 at Lawler Rink. His daughter Sarah, a Merrimack junior, will sing the national anthem.<\/p>\n
Lt. Cmdr. Dunne, a graduate of the Naval War College, has served on active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is currently with the Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa, based in Djibouti. <\/p>\n
Holder of the Defense Meritorious Service Award, Navy Commendation Medal and Iraq and Afghan campaign medals, he is chair of the Peabody Veterans Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
