The nation’s No. 1 team has fallen.<\/p>\n

Two weeks into their reign as the top team, Ohio State ran into upstart UMass and fell 6-3 in the Buckeyes home opener.<\/p>\n

Bobby Trivigno scored two goals for the Minutemen and top NHL prospect Cale Makar scored a goal and two assists in the victory.<\/p>\n

UMass jumped out to a 3-0 lead onto the have Ohio State climb within a goal on back-to-back second period tallies by Carson Meyer.<\/p>\n

But a three-goal third period for UMass put this game away, improving the Minutemen to 3-0-0 on the young season.<\/p>\n

The clubs will complete their two-game series on Saturday.<\/p>\n

No. 20 Union 4, No. 12 Northeastern 3 (OT)<\/strong>
\nUnion rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to force overtime where Cole Maier scored his fourth goal of the season to earn the road win over No. 12 Northeastern for the 20th-ranked Dutchmen.<\/p>\n

After Lincoln Griffin and Tyler Madden scored early for the Huskies, Brett Supinski netted goals 2 minutes, 10 seconds apart to even the game through one.<\/p>\n

Liam Pecararo gave Northeastern the lead in the second, but Sebastian Vidmar’s goal at 1:57 of the third tied the game and forced overtime.<\/p>\n

Northeastern held a 40-29 shots advantage in the game. The two teams will rematch on Saturday in the USCHO Game of the Week.<\/p>\n

Quinnipiac 1, No. 18 Boston College 0<\/strong>
\nChase Priskie’s goal with 2:25 remaining the in opening period turned out to be the only tally of the game as Quinnipiac goaltender Keith Petruzelli stopped all 21 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory over the No. 18 Eagles.<\/p>\n

The win improved the Bobcats early-season record to 3-0-0, while BC drops to 0-3-0.<\/p>\n

No. 7 Minnesota State 7, No. 16 North Dakota 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

Max Coatta notched a hat trick and Parker Tuomie added two goals, his third and fourth of the season as No. 7 Minnesota State skated to a road victory over North Dakota in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

The Fighting Hawks held early leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before allowing three straight goals to the Mavericks, two to Coatta and one to Tuomie.<\/p>\n

North Dakota drew close late, when Ludvig Hoff scored late in the second to cut the lead to 6-4.<\/p>\n

But a Marc Michaelis’ third period empty-net goal allowed Minnesota State to earn the victory and improve to 3-0-0. North Dakota still is looking for its first win at 0-2-1.<\/p>\n
