{"id":94116,"date":"2019-07-13T11:18:34","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T16:18:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=94116"},"modified":"2020-08-24T11:46:53","modified_gmt":"2020-08-24T16:46:53","slug":"massachusetts-promotes-assistant-demichiel-to-associate-head-coach-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2019\/07\/13\/massachusetts-promotes-assistant-demichiel-to-associate-head-coach-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Massachusetts promotes assistant DeMichiel to associate head coach role"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"ps_captionIns\" aria-describedby=\"caption-ps-captionIns\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/img-show\/I0000uCfkM30acmI\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Photo By: Tim Brule\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/demichiel-1.jpg\" alt=\" (Tim Brule)\" width=\"660\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-ps-captionIns\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">UMass associate head coach Jared DeMichiel enters his fourth season at the school in 2019-20 (photo: UMass Athletics).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Massachusetts announced Friday the promotion of assistant coach Jared DeMichiel to associate head coach for the Minutemen.<\/p>\n<p>DeMichiel, a 2010 RIT graduate and former goaltender who backstopped the Tigers to the NCAA Frozen Four, enters his fourth season at UMass in 2019-20 after two years working with current Minutemen coach Greg Carvel at St. Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am excited to announce Jared DeMichiel as associate head coach as he has earned this title by proving his coaching abilities over the last five years at the Division I level,&#8221; said Carvel in a statement. &#8220;Jared was responsible for much of our success on the ice this past season by recruiting excellent young men, elevating our goaltenders&#8217; performances and managing our penalty killing unit that finished the season ranked No. 5 in the country. Jared and I have worked closely together for two different universities and built strong programs at both schools.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jared is a rising star in college hockey and we are fortunate to have him as part of our program here at UMass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>DeMichiel helped lead UMass to its most successful season in program history in 2018-19, which included a program-record 31 wins, the school&#8217;s first-ever Hockey East regular-season championship and culminated with a national runner-up finish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Massachusetts announced Friday the promotion of assistant coach Jared DeMichiel to associate head coach for the Minutemen (photo: UMass Athletics).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":120,"featured_media":94117,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[812],"coauthors":[901],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
