second week of picks, I did even better, going 14-1-1 (.907). I only missed one of the North Dakota-Minnesota State games and the Boston College-Quinnipiac battle, which ended in a tie. For the season, I am 22-5-1 (.833) Let’s look at some of the big contests this week.

Friday-Saturday, October 29-30

Minnesota State at Wisconsin: Minnesota State surprised a lot of people, me included, by upsetting North Dakota last Friday 4-2. Having said that, I don’t foresee Coach Mark Johnson letting his No. 1 Badgers take the Mavericks lightly. Wisconsin 4-1, 5-1

Minnesota at Minnesota-Duluth: Another story in this classic rivalry will be written this weekend. Both teams have had some minor missteps this season, but recovered with sweeps last weekend. I’m going to call a split in two tight games. Minnesota-Duluth 3-2, Minnesota 4-3

Syracuse at Ohio State: Syracuse has looked good this season, and already has one upset this season with a win over New Hampshire. I think the Orange might just pull an upset. Ohio State 4-1, Syracuse 3-2.

Friday, October 29

Boston University at Providence: No. 5 BU has looked good since losing its opener, and Providence, one of the older programs in Hockey East, has started well this season. Despite BU’s strength, I’m calling the upset in Providence. Providence 5-4

Yale at Harvard: Harvard kicks off its season at home against its school’s oldest foe. The women’s Yale team has yet to challenge in ECAC, and Harvard should start strong. Harvard 5-1

Cornell at Quinnipiac: The Bobcats have come on strong this season, and last week showed they are in the mix with the top teams by tying No. 6 Boston College. I think No. 2 Cornell may be too strong, but it will be close. Cornell 4-2

Saturday-Sunday, October 29-30

Boston College at Connecticut: Despite a minor misstep last week against Quinnipiac, BC has started well, and Connecticut got crushed by Minnesota-Duluth. I think the Eagles continue to pressure BU. Boston College 4-2, 4-1

Saturday, October 30

Brown at Harvard: The Crimson move to 2-0 on the season.
