Two tournaments dot this weekend’s schedule on top of several ranked teams taking the ice.<\/p>\n
As has become an exciting part of the weekend, women’s editor Candace Horgan and women’s writer Matt Mackinder take their picks on the wins and losses for the games ahead.<\/p>\n

\n Candace:<\/strong> Something tells me the road team is poised for a strong second half. Adrian 3-2<\/strong>
\nMatt:<\/strong> Another contest that is sure to be a nail-biter. Both of these teams have it all, but Gustavus has a smidge more and gets a 2-0 shutout here with Lindsey Hibbard in net.<\/p>\n
\n Candace: <\/strong>I like the Lakers over the home team in this tournament. Oswego 3, Plymouth State 1, St. Michael’s 2, Hamilton 1, Oswego 3-2<\/strong>
\nMatt:<\/strong> No ranked teams here, but expect some solid competition. Oswego is the only team better than .500 with a 7-2-0 mark, so I’ll go with the Lakers here.<\/p>\n
\n Candace:<\/strong> I’ll pick my alma mater to take it over Castleton. Castleton<\/strong> 3, Stevenson 1, Holy Cross 4, Manhattanville 2, Holy Cross 3-1<\/strong>
\nMatt:<\/strong> Again, no ranked teams doesn’t mean the games aren’t meaningful. All four teams in this one are .500 or better, so picking a winner is a tough decision. That said, I’ll go out on a limb and say Castleton gets two wins to take the crown.<\/p>\n
\n Candace:<\/strong> Last weekend, Elmira faced the No. 4 team, Middlebury, and tied. Something tells me the Soaring Eagles get the win here. Elmira 2-1<\/strong>
\nMatt:<\/strong> Wow. Talk about Happy New Year! This game will be everything a playoff game or even a national tournament game should be. So with both teams stacked in all areas, what gives? Do we call it a tie? Nope, no cowardice here. I say Elmira wins it in overtime on an Ashley Ryan goal.<\/p>\n
