Last Week: 6-3-2 (.636)

On the Season: 6-3-2 (.636)

Friday October 22 and Saturday, October 23

Bentley at Clarkson – The Falcons head to the North Country in search of their first win. I don’t think they’ll get it, but the games should be close. Clarkson 4, Bentley 3; Clarkson 3, Bentley 2.

Canisius at Sacred Heart – This should be a great series with the Pioneers looking to rebound from a bad outing at Union two weeks ago. Sacred Heart is tough to play at home, but Canisius has the firepower to get at least a split. Sacred Heart 4, Canisius 3, Canisius 3, Sacred Heart 1.

AIC at Air Force – The Yellow Jackets have never defeated Air Force in 20 attempts (0-19-1) and I don’t think they break the streak this weekend. Air Force 4, AIC 2; Air Force 3, AIC 1.

Friday, October 22

RIT at Rensselaer – RPI leads the all-time series 3-1 and won a wild 10-7 game the last time these teams met. I think there will be less scoring the time out, but the same result. RPI 4, RIT 3.

Niagara at Union – This marks the first time the Purple Eagles have visited Messa Rink in eight years. Union has looked very good so far and should handle the Purps. Union 4, Niagara 2.

Saturday, October 23

Holy Cross at Quinnipiac – I think this will be one of the “near” upsets we’ve seen a lot of so far this season. Holy Cross will keep it close, but I think the Bobcats will prevail. Quinnipiac 4, Holy Cross 3.

Niagara at Rensselaer – This is my upset special. Niagara won the last meeting between the teams back in 2009, and I think history will repeat itself. Niagara 3, RPI 2.

Connecticut at Army – Advantage Black Knights in what I expect to be a low scoring game. Army 2, UConn 1

RIT at Union – This was a great Division III rivalry back around the time most of these players were born. I think Union wins on home ice. Union 4, RIT 2.

Our first guest picker of the season is Mark “Komey” Komar, a long time fixture at the rail in RIT’s infamous Corner Crew. Here’s his picks, unedited:

AIC @ Air Force

Flight of the Bumblebee to a pair of losses. – AFA 5, AIC 2 and AFA 4, AIC 1

Canisius @ Sacred Heart

Pioneers look to get rid of an ugly weekend against Union, but only get a split. SH 4, Canisius 3 and Canisius 5, SH 2

Bentley @ Clarkson

The Knights are inconsistant so I think Bentley steals a game – Clarkson 4, Bentley 2 and Bentley 3, Clarkson 2

RIT @ RPI

I got killed on Facebook and the USCHO boards for picking a tie against Lowell but I am doing it again. RIT 2, RPI 2

Niagara @ Union

I have a hard time picking teams in pruple, plus Union is looking good. Union 4, Niagara 3

UConn @ Army

Army at Tate Rink is usually tough. Army 3, UConn 2

Holy Cross @ Quinnipiac

I like the Crusaders in a mild upset. Holy Cross 4, QU 2

Niagara @ RPI

Eagles lose a tough one. RPI 2, Niagara 1

RIT @ Union

If I trusted RIT’s goaltending I would go RIT, but I give it to Union. Union 4, RIT 2

This Week’s Picks:
