Army West Point at Air Force

Chris: It goes without saying that these games are special. I was surprised to discover that Air Force is 11-1-3 in its last 15 meetings with Army West Point, because the games are usually close. But I’m looking for that trend to continue with an Air Force Sweep.

Dan: Army is going to be hopping mad after getting swept by RIT last weekend. That should keep the games close, but I recall that I don’t totally love anyone going out west to play in the altitude. Air Force sweeps.

Chris: Before the season started, I would have picked at least a split here for Bentley. But Niagara has impressed and Bentley has been up-and-down so far. I’m picking a Niagara sweep.

Dan: Niagara is remarkably consistent this year and hasn’t experienced any type of drop off through the three periods. The Purps are -1 on the season and haven’t been totally dominated in any period of play. Bentley is looking to buck recent history that included a split each of the past two seasons and a 2-6 record at Dwyer Arena since the Purple Eagles entered the league. I like a split here, but I’ll take the home team. Niagara sweeps.

Chris:RIT looked terrible two weekends ago in lopsided losses to RPI and Union. Then they played a complete road series at Army and walked away with four points. The Tigers have struggled at home vs. the road lately, but I think they sweep the Yellow Jackets at the Polisseni Center.

Dan: Last year’s win at RIT was AIC’s first since February, 2008 and first win in the Polisseni Center. It’s a history that’s been really, really unkind to the Yellow Jackets. I keep waiting to unveil the “AIC has arrived” war drum, especially after beating Penn State and two ties against Bentley. It’s coming very soon. RIT sweeps.

Chris: This will be a fun series between (IMO) evenly matched teams. RMU is having trouble scoring goals so far this season, and Holy Cross can play stingy defense. But I think RMU finds a way to get at least two points here. My gut says all four. Robert Morris sweeps.

Dan: If you’ve ever enjoyed a 1-0 baseball pitching duel, watch the series this weekend. I’m excited for it. Holy Cross wins on Friday, Robert Morris on Saturday.

Chris: This will be the first trip for the Lakers to their in-state rivals. Penn State has been surprised already on home ice by an Atlantic Hockey team (a 3-2 loss to AIC on Oct. 20), so I expect them to be sharp. Mercyhurst is certainly capable of winning at least one game, but I think PSU sweeps on home ice.

Dan: I don’t suspect Penn State will get caught twice by Atlantic Hockey teams, though I’d certainly like to see it happen again. Penn State sweeps.

Canisius at Sacred Heart

Chris: Sacred Heart has beaten Notre Dame and UConn this season, but was not sharp last weekend, getting swept at home by Niagara. I’m picking a split here with SHU winning on Saturday and Canisius on Sunday.

Dan: I’ve always enjoyed bold predictions. Sacred Heart has had success against the Golden Griffins at home, going 2-2-2 over the last three seasons and avoiding a sweep against one of the league’s best teams. I think the Pioneers win the weekend, and since I can’t pick ties, I’m going with my first real bold one of the year. Sacred Heart sweeps.
