It was a big sweep for the Quinnipiac Bobcats over the Northeastern Huskies. On Friday the Bobcats won the opening contest 6-4 and on Saturday they needed overtime for a 3-2 victory. The sophomore class had a big part of Quinnipiac’s success.Chase Priskie finally found the scoresheet this weekend after going scoreless in his first three games played on On Friday, he had an assists and Saturday he had a big game. He scored the Bobcats first two goals of the game.Alex Whelan had the game winning goal on Saturday while on Friday night he had a goal and an assist. Kārlis Čukste also had a goal and assist on Friday and added an assist on Saturday night. Nick Germain had three assists Friday night.Andrew Shortridge picked up the victory in goal on Saturday.Clarkson continues its strong early startFor the second time this season the Golden Knights have beaten a top ten team in the USCHO poll. Two weeks ago it was Penn State and this weekend it was a 4-0 victory over Providence College.Just like the Quinnipiac, Clarkson is also getting production from their sophomore class. Devin Brosseau had a big game with two goals while Sheldon Rempal had two assists over the Friars. Rempal is starting to find has groove the past two weekends as he has six of his eight points in that stretch.Brosseau has also scored his six points on the season during the past two weeks.A lot of the goaltending talk heading into the season evolved around Harvard’s Merrick Madsen and the tandem the Bobcats have in Shortridge and Keith Petruzzelli, but Jake Kielly is showing he can backup last season’s play as a freshman. He already has two shutouts as a sophomore. The most goals he has let up this season in a game was Friday night in a 3-1 loss to UMass-Lowell.The Golden Knights have another stiff test this weekend when they face another top program in the University of Minnesota for a pair of games in Minneapolis.RPI and Union find the win columnThe two rivals each at least picked up one victory over the weekend as they both traveled to upstate New York to take on Niagara and Rochester Institute of Technology. The Dutchmen earned the sweep as the defeated RIT on Friday night 6-1 while defeating Niagara 5-1 on Saturday night. Union had 12 different players find the scoresheet on Friday and nine players on Saturday evening. Ryan Scarfo had four points on the weekend. After a tough defeat Friday night against Niagara with a 4-3 loss in overtime, Rensselaer took out their frustrations out on RIT with a 8-3 victory over the Tigers for the team’s first victory of the season and Dave Smith’s first win as RPI’s coach. Viktor Liljegren and Troy York each had two goals in the victory. That leaves St. Lawrence as the lone non-Ivy League team in the ECAC to win a game this season. The Saints lost to Providence College 6-5 on Saturday and suffered a 5-0 loss to UMass-Lowell on Saturday
