It would probably be fitting if I used a Halloween pun or story to open this post, unfortunately I don’t have any.

So, let’s get picking…

Ferris State at Bemidji State

Jack: Last year it took the Beavers until December to finally lose a conference game. I don’t think they’re quite that dominant this season but I don’t think they’ll lose to Ferris. Beavers 3-1, 3-1

Sean: I’m siding with Jack here. I think Ferris will give a good fight in the second game, but Beavers still get it done. Beavers 4-2, 2-1 (OT)

Alaska at Bowling Green

Jack: The Nanooks haven’t beaten anyone aside from rivals Alaska Anchorage. They officially start conference play this week. Not sure if I can see them beating the Falcons on the road right now. Falcons 4-3, 3-1

Sean: After a split to open WCHA the Falcons have a nice opportunity this weekend to bank some early points against the Nanooks. I think the get the job done. Falcons 4-1, 5-2

Michigan Tech at Minnesota State

Jack: This is always an entertaining series, and I don’t see that being any different this week. I’m expecting a split. Huskies 3-2, Mavericks 6-3

Sean: This is the best series of the weekend, and I think both teams got a bit of a wakeup call with splits last weekend. Think they’ll end up with splits again, but this time they’ll need overtime in each game. Mavericks 4-3 (OT), Huskies 2-1 (OT)

Alabama Huntsville at Cornell

Jack: The Chargers are riding high after a nice win at Michigan Tech. In fact, they’ve been playing pretty well in general this season. I think that’s good enough for at least one road win. Chargers 4-1, Big Red 3-1

Sean: The Chargers may be 1-3, but they’ve actually played a good brand of hockey so far. I think they suprise some people and get the job done with an unexpected sweep on the road. Chargers 3-1, 3-2

Lake Superior State at Michigan State

Jack: Last season the Lakers took it to their instate rivals with a pair of blowout wins. Sparty looks a little better this season but I still think the Lakers will pick up one on the road. Spartans 3-1, Lakers 4-2

Sean: We often talk about the WCHA having a chance to take advantage of non-conference games, and this feels like an opportunity for the Lakers. I think they do the rest of the conference a favor and sweep. Lakers 3-2, 2-0
