Penn State at (1) Wisconsin

On Friday, the Badgers had one last celebration of their 2018-19 national championship season before the game and carried that momentum into a 7-0 win in front of a sell-out crowd in Madison. Abby Roque had two goals and two assists while Daryl Watts added a goal and three assists to lead the Badgers. Penn State put the Badgers on their heels in the first period on Saturday, out-shooting Wisconsin 13-10. But it was once again Watts that lead the Badgers. Her two goals were the difference as Wisconsin won 3-0. Sophie Shirley had two assists and Caitlin Schneider was the other goal scorer in the win.

(2) Minnesota at Minnesota State

Taylor Heise had two goals and an assist, Alex Woken had a goal and two assists and Grace Zumwinkle scored twice in the Gophers’ 6-0 win over Minnesota State on Friday. In game two, Woken tallied two goals and an assist while Catie Skaja added two goals of her own as Minnesota cruised to a 7-1 win and weekend sweep of the Mavericks. Charlotte Akervik scored for Minnesota State in the loss.

(3) Clarkson at (10) Minnesota Duluth

Minnesota Duluth took the lead twice in the first period, but could not hold off Clarkson in the final two frames as the Golden Knights won 4-2 on Friday. Gabbie Hughes put the Bulldogs up 1-0 just :31 seconds into the game. Avery Mitchell responded for Clarkson two minutes later. Sydney Brody made it 2-1 UMD heading into the first period break. Late in the second, Brooke Quigge scored on the power play and Michaela Pejzlová scored with three minutes left in the frame to give Clarkson a 3-2 lead heading into the third. Elizabeth Giguère scored 1:13 into the last period and that was enough for Clarkson to take game one. On Saturday, Maddie Rooney recorded 29 saves, including 14 in the final period, to lead Minnesota Duluth to a 3-0 shutout of the Golden Knights. Again, it was Hughes and Brodt that scored for the Bulldogs in the win.

(4) Northeastern at Union

Five different Huskies scored for Northeastern to earn them a 5-0 win over Union on Friday. Alina Mueller picked up right where she left off last season, scoring :26 into the game with what would prove to be the game-winner. She added three assists to lead her team to the win.

(7) Boston College at Holy Cross

Hannah Bilka scored four goals, Olivia Finocchiaro had a goal and three assists and Kelly Browne added four assists to lead the Eagles to a 6-0 win over Holy Cross.

(7) Boston College at Syracuse

Cayla Barnes had BC up 1-0 after the first period and Lindsay Agnew doubled the lead early in the second before Emma Polaski’s power play goal brought Syracuse within one. Early in the third, Hannah Bilka’s own power play goal made it 3-1 and less than three minutes later, Barnes’ second put BC up 4-1. Syracuse fought back in the third, with goals from Jessica Digirolamo and Anonda Hoppner, but they ran out of time as Boston College escaped with the 4-3 win.

(8) Boston University @ Union

Sammy Davis put BU on the board just before the first period break and doubled the Terriers’ lead with a power play goal late in the second period to lead Boston University to a 2-1 win. Leah Herrfort scored her first career goal for Union in the lost.

(9) Ohio State at St. Cloud State

Emma Maltais scored a career-high four goals to lead the Buckeyes to a 5-2 win in game one of the weekend series. Rebecca Freiburger had OSU up 1-0 after the first period. Maltais’ first doubled the lead before Dana Rasmussen responded for St. Cloud State to make it 2-1. Maltais struck again just before the period break and then again near the end of the third to extend the lead to 4-1. Hallie Theodosopoulos closed the gap a bit for the Huskies, but Maltais’ fourth goal sealed the win. On Saturday, a four-goal second period from the Buckeyes broke the game open and helped them secure the 6-2 win and weekend sweep. Tatum Skaggs and Sara Saekkinen scored twice to lead Ohio State while Abby Thiessen and Brooke Kudirka were the goal scorers for St. Cloud State.
